A small Christmas read

The December book choice is a little different that we have had in the past. I'm offering one of two books for you to read. You can either buy the book titled A Christmas Story by Jean Shepard which is the basis of the movie classic by the same name, or you can read chapters from In God We Trust, all others pay cash. By Jean Shepard which was the book of short stories that the began the Christmas Story. You can find the first book at Barnes and Noble and the other online at various places buy at Half.com for great prices. Either way since this is a short period of time I know many won't get through the book but unless you live under a rock you probably have seen the movie so we can have a discussion either way. I'm going for the second choice because I think the additional stories will be a great read.

Thanks and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Better late than never.

This should have been posted over a month ago. Very sorry about that:( I wasn't feeling to well and unfortunately this post never got done but I had to add it so we will be able to look back and remember the book Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons. I feel pretty bad about this book actually. Most of us in our club didn't read it all and it wasn't to fair to Misty who picked the book. So if we can lets all try to read it and discuss it at the next meeting if we can. I mean it might cut into the time that some of us talk about Twilight but we'll have to make that sacrifice. (just kidding Misty) Anyway lets see if we can give her book another try and the respect it's due.
Thanks ladies!

End of summer and a new book

So summer is ending, or at least summer vacation is, and we're on to a new book. I'm looking forward to meeting again as the last meeting was so fun and relaxed. Lanette has picked the new book choice and without further ado it is The Man from St Petersburg, by Ken Follett. Happy reading and see you in September!

Wow! It's been a long time...Fall Colors!lol

Hi Everyone,
So the Twelve Oaks BookClub is up and at it again!  What a long pause.  I am so happy we actually had the meeting for "Who Killed my Daughter?" I wish we could have discussed the book more since it really is a haunting story but it's been such a long time since we read it how could we?  So I hope we can put all of our effort into kicking butt on the next book and meet soon to discuss it.  What book it is?  Well glad you ask... The book we will read next was picked by faithful member Shalini!  Yeah!  The book is called "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls.  From what we discussed it seems to be a great book for discussion!   So once again our other fellow member Lanette will send out the e-vite once Shalini gives us the info on when and where to meet.  Hopefully we'll have a great turnout!  So enjoy the read!
